Rommel and Libby had their litter!! Soggy Acres welcomed 12 new black and chocolate puppies into the world on may 15th. We ended up with 7 chocolate lab puppies, three chocolate labrador retriever pups, one black lab pup, and one black female labrador puppy!

Libby and the pups are all doing well and look strong. We will have chocolate male puppies available fromt this litter. The pups are 900 and a 250 dollar deposit is required to hold a spot in a litter.

This is a wonderful pedigree, loaded with field champions and master hunters. Rommel was featured on Outdoor Wisconsin and is the top dawg on our new television program with Skyward Wings. This is a repeat breeding with pups from the last litter prospering in the field last season!

Here is a short video of the pups feeding at one day old.

Our litters with Candlewoods Little Trooper MH and SHR Soggy Acres Mighty Mojo WC, as well as HR Soggy Acres Desert Fox SH and Soggy Acres Dixie Belle are all doing well. These black and chocolate labrador retriever puppies are growing like weeds. They went outside for the first time today, and will start on mushy food tomorrow.

They are all sold, and will be off to their new homes the weekend of April 24th. We will start all of the lab pups on pheasant wings this weekend. Now the real works start and the evaluation begins!

Floppy Ears is moving along with his/her new training regimen. Obedience has been taught and now is being demanded. “Because I said so” may work on your children, but only elicits a blank stare from the Floppinator. Where do we go from here?

Well, Floppy Ears needs to be introduced to his/her new electric friend. No, its not a television with that fancy DVD. It’s not a radio with a book on tape. Floppy needs to meet the electric training collar. There are many models out there so take heed in purchasing the model and manufacturer that works for you.

Once the collar has been fitted, work with Floppy for a few days on each command. Make sure that Floppy has no doubt what you are asking with each command. Now use the collar to reinforce the command “Sit.” When Floppy understands, due to proper timing, what the command and consequences for disobeying are move onto the command “Here.” Again, work with Floppy until you have your obedient, desired response.

If Floppy’s fearless leader and head trainer is a novice find a good book or DVD to assist in the correct timing and application of your electric request for performance.

Hey we got a great topic in…… How to train boundaries in your yard to Floppy Ears.

There are a lot of products and methods for this. You can invest a large amount of money into an electric fence or other related products.

I like to use a basic Ecollar and some stern verbal reinforcement. The key to any ecollar training is to first make sure Floppy knows what command you are giving them. The command I would use to teach yard boundries would be’”No, here.” This would establish with Floppy that he/she is not allowed in that area. I would work on this for a week or so. Facilitate Floppy into being corrected. By this I mean put Floppy in a position to be corrected. Simply walk Floppy to the area. Once the Floppy gets near the boundry correct him/her with the command.

Once the Ole Floppy Ears has figured out that there are boundries incorporate the ecollar. This is also the point where you need to have Floppy properly conditioned to the ecollar. If you decide to use this method get a good book that will teach this. Tritroncis Retriever Training is the book suggested by us! We always have several copies and will ship to your house. You can learn further training techniques that are used by the pros in this book. Its an easy read, regimented program, and even I can understand it due to its simple step by step process.

Keep the Topics coming…..we’ll keep you up to date with Training Tips For Floppy Ears!
